Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  I would like to check my order status, but I'm not sure which number to use to do so?

A:  The Order Number that appears on your email receipt is the correct one to use.  It is 8 digits in length.  The invoice number, which is 5 digits, can not be used.

Q:  I would like to adjust my auto-shipments or am having problems with that program or a recurring billing issue?

A:  We do not have any automatic shipment programs or recurring billing.  If you are receiving products automatically or are being billed repeatedly, it is not originating from our company.  You will need to contact the company you originally purchased from.

Q:  I would like some information regarding the products that are carried on this website or have some customer service inquiries.  What should I do?

A:  We ask that you email us so that we may provide you with the answers and information you need.  Our order line is for purchasing only.

Q:  What are the differences between mineral makeup and traditional liquid and cream makeups?

A:  Mineral makeup is the most natural form of cosmetic since it's made from pure, crushed minerals from the earth.  There are no fragrances, oils, binders, and other chemicals that can irritate the skin and cause breakouts.  It is actually good for your skin since it has soothing and calming properties.  A natural sunscreen is another added benefit. Many women who could never wear makeup due to sensitive skin have had great results with these more natural options.  Mineral makeup is very lightweight and non-greasy, so you won't have a heavy, cakey, or "made up" feeling.

Q:  What are the differences between Bare Escentuals Barescentsations, and Monave?

A:  Bare Escentuals is the most well known brand of mineral makeup, but there are other brands such as Monave and our own line, Barescentsations.  Bare Escentuals includes the ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride in many of their products.  It provides for a smooth, creamy texture and more of a shiny finish, but some women may have a sensitivity to it.  Barescentsations foundations contain a lower amount of Bismuth, and our line contains the addition of vitamins A, E, and D and a lavender-based aromatherapy.  In addition, our foundations provide slightly more coverage than Bare Escentuals' does.   Monave does not use Bismuth Oxychloride so the texture of their makeup is a bit different, and the finish is more matte.  Monave foundations also provide slightly more coverage with less amount of minerals.  If you have used Bare Escentuals and are trying Monave for the first time, you should use about half the amount of foundation you normally would use.

Q:  What is the best way to apply mineral makeup?

A:  There are several application techniques, and it's best to experiment to see which works best for you.  The traditional method of swirl, tap, and buff is widely popular -- pour a small amount of minerals into the lid of the jar, swirl an application face brush into the minerals to infuse them into the bristles, tap off the excess well, then apply in a buffing motion to your face.  A flocked sponge may be used in place of a brush with either a dry or wet application.  For a wet application with a face brush, you can either swirl and tap the minerals onto the brush then lightly mist the brush with water or a botanical misting spray, or you could mist your face first then apply the foundation.  When using a wet technique with a brush, it's necessary to have the brush damp not wet, and you must work fast.

Q:  Are there other "wet" application techniques that work well?

A:  Many women have had excellent results mixing the minerals with their favorite moisturizer or with Aloe Vera Gel, (the AVG method), to get a light, natural "no makeup" look.

Q:  What is the key to getting a natural, flawless looking application?

A:  It's always recommended to use a quality moisturizer prior to applying makeup, and let it absorb into the skin.  Then apply the foundation by starting off using a small amount of minerals.  Less is more with mineral  makeup, and it takes very little product to get great coverage.  Slowly build up to the coverage that you need.  If too much product is used, you might not get the results you are looking for.  If using a brush, it's best to use a high-quality natural bristle brush.  The right brush can make all the difference in how the minerals apply on the skin.

Q:  There are so many different products and colors, how can I use them?

A:  The beauty of mineral makeup is that it  provides a freedom to mix, match, and create.  The minerals that you use for your blush can be mixed with clear lip gloss or lip balm to create a matching lip color.  It can also be mixed with clear nail polish for a totally coordinated look.  Use them for eyeshadows, contour colors, or combine two or more shades for a custom color.  You are limited only by your creativity!
